Physical education, overweight and anxiety in primary education students in southern Mexico

The research presented had the objective of showing associations between anxiety and food intake that can lead to the appearance of this condition in students who attend classes at the “Niño Artillero” T.V. primary school. from Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, Mexico. In the study, the State-Trait Anxiety Questionnaire declared by Rojas (2010) was applied, which allows obtaining information regarding the anxiety that the students perceive. The measurement of body weight of the students who participated in the research was compared with national standards in order to obtain the perspective of the intersection between anxiety and overweight or obesity presented by the students of this institution. This result allowed us to have a vision focused on the conditions of southern Mexico, keeping the differences of each location, age and gender. The statistical samples analyzed in this study were taken and contrasted at two times, the beginning of the cycle in August 2022 and January 2023, with the purpose of comparing possible differences in the emotional state (anxiety) of the students and possible statistical changes in body weight. and its contrast with the ages and genders of girls and boys between the ages of 6 and 13 and in students from the 2nd to the 6th grade of primary school. The results obtained showed that food intake is due to anxiety, which demonstrated a significant positive association between states of overweight and obesity with the presence of anxiety symptoms.
