Abstract

Energy needs are a priority for all countries; however, it is also essential not to compromise this need for future generations. This approach implies a progressive transition from the predominant use of fossil fuels to renewable energy sources: solar, wind, hydroelectric, and geothermal, with the aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and combating climate change. Energy sustainability is based not only on the adoption of clean technologies but also on improving energy efficiency and conserving resources, promoting the intelligent use of energy, and minimizing waste. Furthermore, sustainable energy development prioritizes equity and inclusion, ensuring universal access to secure and affordable energy, which contributes to reducing social inequalities and improving quality of life. This work aims to: explain the role of renewable energy sources and the contribution of industrial engineers to sustainable energy development.
