Indicators of science, technology and innovation for a scientific and technological park in Cuba: an exploratory study

Abstract

The purpose of the study presented here is the search for indicators for a science and technology park (PCT) considering particularities in Cuba. Conceived as instruments for socioeconomic development, the PCT is deployed as a space for the interconnection of technoscience and innovation, which play an important role in the search for solutions to the demands and growing needs that are manifested at the local, regional and national levels. The objective has been to build a first proposal of indicators to measure the results and influences of technoscience and innovation and from these, to facilitate decision making. Methodologically, an exploratory, descriptive study is developed, based on documentary analysis and theoretical approaches. The main result is a set of indicators that allow to explore and describe with objectivity the role and relevance of knowledge, science and innovation in the development of a Technological Science Park, as a basis for the development of the productive forces of society.
