Abstract

This editorial article attempts to clarify some frequently found inaccuracies in the proper use of the treatment of concepts, opportunities for use and tools related to the new economies that have emerged as a necessity in the face of the changes produced in the conceptions of development in recent decades. The main limitations of traditional economics are exposed in the work, in order to satisfy the responses to the contemporary world and how, because of this, these new ways of seeing the economy have emerged, which complement the financial vision of this social science and are important to treat in publications to support knowledge on sustainable development and to adequately guide the most correct procedure to choose; the gradual emergence of these from the evolution of the concepts of sustainability and development is explained. In this editorial article (part I) the theoretical conceptions, topics that it deals with and main methodologies and indicators of three of them are analyzed and clarified: environmental economics, natural resource economics and ecological economics.
