Abstract

The use of Wordwall in the classroom offers multiple advantages by turning content into a fun and engaging experience. The objective of the research was to implement a system of activities with Wordwall to improve academic performance and meaningful learning in the “Ecosystems” study unit in the high school program at the Margarita Cortez Educational Unit.  The research is framed holistically within a mixed approach. It is considered field-based, applied, with a quasi-experimental design, with pre- and post-tests to determine the level of academic performance and meaningful learning of the students. Theoretical and empirical methods (surveys, interviews, and consultations with specialists) were used, processed with statistical methods supported by Excel and SPSS V25 software. A system of activities was created with Wordwall to improve academic performance and meaningful learning and was evaluated based on the fulfillment of the course objectives, the cross-cutting skills it contributes to, and its feasibility of applicability using the Torgerson method, with specialists rating it as “very adequate.” The post-test survey of students showed that their perception of the classes improved as they were active, engaging, participatory, and collaborative, with autonomous learning and assessments that allowed for adequate monitoring and immediate feedback. The proposal as a whole contributed to improved academic performance and meaningful learning. Average scores increased from 2.21 to 4.13, a difference of 1.92 points.
