Factors influencing the development of research skills in female university studentes from Perú

Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze the factors influencing the development of research competencies in female university students in Peru. The research adopted a quantitative descriptive-explanatory approach. The sample consisted of 303 female university students selected through stratified random probability sampling. A 102-item questionnaire was used to collect data on research competencies and various factors, including curriculum adaptation, information retrieval, teacher guidance, personal aspects, research ethics, initial training, and psychological factors. The study's results indicated high reliability in the collected data, with a Cronbach's Alpha value of 0.930. The findings revealed that 35% of the students had achieved a satisfactory level of research competencies, while 67% exhibited deficient development in these competencies. This suggests that many students still face challenges in critical thinking, specialized information retrieval, and creativity in addressing problems within their respective fields of knowledge.
