Abstract

This study analyzed the initiatives carried out by the Interdisciplinary Club for Inclusion and Diversity (CIDIES) at the State University of Milagro as a practice fostering educational equity in higher education. A qualitative methodology was employed, grounded in an experience systematization design and a socio-critical paradigm, to recover meaningful learning regarding inclusion and diversity. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and document analysis, and examined using thematic content analysis. Findings revealed that CIDIES strengthened student engagement, promoted solidarity, and fostered the recognition of functional diversity as a core institutional value. It also played a key role in transforming teaching practices and raising awareness across the university community. The study concludes that CIDIES represents a replicable model capable of inspiring inclusive policies and support mechanisms in other higher education institutions. The research offers valuable insights for designing strategies that promote equity, participation, and the recognition of diversity in academic settings.
