Student satisfaction: A determining factor for educational quality

Abstract

This study analyzes student satisfaction as a determining factor for educational quality at the Instituto Tecnológico de Villahermosa, specifically in the propaedeutic course for the period January-June 2025. The objective was to identify the perceptions of incoming students with respect to various dimensions that affect their initial academic experience. A quantitative approach with descriptive scope was adopted, using a non-experimental design and a sample of 51 students selected by convenience. The data collection instrument was a Likert-type questionnaire that explored dimensions such as teaching-learning process, pedagogical practices, support services and academic trajectory, among others. The results reflect a general level of favorable satisfaction in most of the items evaluated, highlighting areas for improvement in support services and academic career follow-up. It is concluded that student satisfaction in early stages is key to establish solid foundations to strengthen educational quality programs. It is also recommended to implement institutional strategies for continuous improvement focused on the student experience.
