Abstract

Skin cancer is considered the most common type of cancer worldwide, and the most frequent cause is exposure to ultraviolet radiation from sunlight. Interventions in tourist environments indicate the effectiveness of actions promoting sun protection practices and skin cancer prevention. Hence, the objective set for the research is: Describe the main results obtained in research related to interventions in tourist environments for the prevention of skin cancer. A systematic review was conducted in the databases SCOPUS, PUBMED (English), Scielo, and CUIDEN, with access granted from the electronic library of the University of Granada for the study period ranging from September to December 2024. The guiding question was developed using the PICOT acronym, search terms, and descriptors in Health Sciences and Medical Subject Headings, respectively. A total of 62 studies were retrieved across Scopus, PubMed, Scielo, and CUIDEN. Of these investigations, only 20 were included in the study: six from SCOPUS, seven from PUBMED, three from CUIDEN, and four from SCIELO. Interventions in tourist settings for skin cancer prevention must be based on scientific evidence, and several studies have demonstrated their effectiveness in increasing knowledge about the risks of UV radiation and sun protection practices
