Abstract

The present study aimed to determine the relationship between the propensity to use cloud computing and digital environmental awareness among university students in Ecuador. A quantitative, non-experimental, cross-sectional, correlational approach was used. A structured questionnaire was validated through internal reliability analysis. A multigroup structural equation model was then used to compare the behavior of the constructs by gender. The results showed high factor loadings in all dimensions, demonstrating the structural validity of the instrument and the consistency of the measured constructs. A positive association was found between the propensity to use cloud platforms and digital environmental awareness, with subtle differences between men and women. Men reported greater perceptions of technological ease, while women reported a more balanced environmental awareness. The research confirmed that the thoughtful use of technological tools fosters more sustainable attitudes in the digital environment. This work contributed to the understanding of how technological literacy can be linked to environmentally responsible behavior and opened new lines of research aimed at developing pedagogical strategies that promote digital sustainability in universities.
