Abstract

Cinema is a powerful tool for shaping ethics and morality. This article aims to describe how cinema reflects the ethical dilemmas present in society, and acts as a catalyst for debate and moral reflection. Using an analytical and descriptive approach, the study is divided into two segments: the first exposes constitutive elements in an analytical way about various films that address significant ethical issues, as well as their impact on the public and culture in general; the second addresses the results of a survey on the perceptions of primary and elementary school teachers on the influence of films. The techniques used: bibliographic review, film analysis and an online survey applied to a non-probabilistic sample of 149 students of primary and elementary school teaching courses at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of the University of Guayaquil. The results of the survey were discussed and argued in contrast to the film works chosen for analysis. It is concluded that the use of cinematographic works in education can promote a significant learning of norms and values that influence the ethical and moral construction of the individual.
