Extradition is a complex process with specific legal requirements, procedures, and special considerations. In recent years, Ecuador has increased its presence in organized crime organizations. The aim of the study is to highlight the importance of extradition by the Ecuadorian state as an effective and legitimate mechanism to combat transnational organized crime; the preparation of legal professionals in this field of law is fundamental. The research was qualitative, involving document analysis and a survey instrument regarding knowledge of extradition in Ecuador. Although there is general awareness about extradition in most cases, there are individuals with gaps in their understanding. Legal professionals must be prepared to advise institutions and governments on potential extradition cases. By joining efforts, a more robust framework can be established to ensure that crimes do not go unpunished, thereby guaranteeing that all individuals, regardless of their geographical location, face the consequences of their actions. This is possible through the adherence to the principle of international reciprocity among states.
