The quality of hospital services in Ecuador is affected by institutional fragmentation, limited diagnostic capacity, and management deficiencies. The objective of this study was to design a management model that optimizes the operational efficiency of a second-level care hospital in the city of Latacunga, Ecuador. The problem identified is related to long waiting times, shortages, and weak inter-area coordination, which limits installed capacity. A non-experimental, quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional design was used, applying surveys to 118 physicians and 12 administrative heads. The results showed a direct relationship between the reliability of biomedical equipment and surgical compliance, uneven performance in the pharmaceutical chain, and neutral perceptions in critical administrative processes. It is concluded that efficiency depends on three factors: reliable equipment, timely pharmaceutical logistics, and coordination between services.
