Digitalization and technological management in the "Fábrica de Pilotos" business in Santo Domingo

Abstract

The growth of e-commerce and the digitalization of processes have generated new opportunities for microenterprises, especially in optimizing inventory and sales management. Hence, the need for a technological transition at the "Fábrica de Pilotos" retail store in Santo Domingo, due to operational limitations that affect efficiency and customer service. For this reason, this study focused on developing a web application to improve sales and inventory management at the "Fábrica de Pilotos" retail store in Santo Domingo. To this end, a qualitative analysis was conducted, complemented by interviews and surveys, as well as the design and construction of the web application using Extreme Programming. The implementation of the web application automated product registration, inventory control, and online order management. An improvement in operational efficiency was observed, as well as a reduction in inventory errors and a strengthening of the business's digital presence. In fact, collaborators indicated that the tool facilitated management and contributed to increasing customer confidence, while the system's functionalities favored internal organization and sales planning. It was concluded that the web application represented a step toward the digital transformation of the store, optimizing sales and inventory management and expanding commercial reach. Therefore, this project has demonstrated that the adoption of digital technologies in microenterprises improves competitiveness and sustainability, with potential for future expansion.
