Gamification and graphic design: optimizing the learning experience through visual elements in virtual educational environments

Abstract

With humanity's technological development, the people's education in I center them educational they must develop to do more amenable the educational programs. This investigation, examine how the integration of gamification and graphic design improves the experience of learning at virtual educational surroundingses. The study focuses on identifying the visual elements itself more effective, his impact in motivation and retention of knowledge, and the barriers that limit his application. They compiled themselves and they examined global experiences, selecting representative cases of different educational levels and regions. The visual elements commonner the mechanicses came from gamification (85 %), the intuitive designs of interface (92 % ) and the interactive infografías (63 % ). The results evidence that the visual gamification, along with an esthetic and functional interface, increases the student's motivation significantly (9.2/10) and improve the retention of knowledge (76 % of loud retention at platforms with visual advanced elements). However, also they identified barriers that the effectiveness of these elements, like the visual surcharge (43 %), the little intuitive designs (29 %) and the problems of connectivity affect (48 %). The investigation concludes that the combination of visual gamification and graphic attractive and functional design transforms the experience of learning positively, but his implementation must be balanced to avoid distractions and assuring the accessibility.
