The present investigation analaiza the relating teoricós about the importance of the design in the communication of the sciences of the editorials. It embraces historical elements on the evolution of the editorial design in scientific magazines until arriving to the present time, as well as the tendencies and challenges to those that face. it explores how the inclusion of visual elements, as infografías and explanatory outlines, it can impact the reception and the citation of the scientific articles.It explores several faces, from the planning until the publication, and as each stage it influences in the effectiveness of the scientific communication. Cases of successes are analyzed that reveal that a good design can develop the diffusion and the impact of the investigations. The fundamental elements of the design and a plan of improvements are exposed to achieve a more affective communication with the readers, because like an industrial outstanding designer points out Dreyfuss (1955), "the design is the interface between the science and the public.
