Editorial
Abstract
Science that is not published does not count. Publishing with quality, sustainability, promptness, security, scientific rigor, utility, responsibility, economy, timeliness, and ethics is a challenge faced by those of us dedicated to this work. Besides being scientists, we feel the responsibility to help other colleagues convey their messages with the highest possible excellence. It is also essential to incorporate principles of eco-efficiency, eco-effectiveness, and effectiveness in research, as well as clearly explaining what we understand and what we do not, and sharing both the advances and failures that arise in the complexity and uncertainty of today’s world.
Quality management in our publications is an integral cycle that involves all actors: authors, reviewers, editors, and referees of the journal, as well as the users and institutions that read and critique the articles.
In search of solutions to these challenges and as part of the project we lead at Cuba Higher Education Ministry, tit-led “Analysis and Improvements in the Scientific Production of the Higher Education Ministry to achieve quality and sustainability through the consolidation of an Editorial Network,” we have made modifications to our editorial policy to align with the standards, criteria, and indicators of the open access databases in which we are indexed or aspire to be indexed.
Supported by the Open Science movement, we have updated our editorial policies to address key aspects of this approach and ensure better editorial management and transparency, which will contribute to higher quality in our publications.
We have implemented actions to ensure a more efficient and transparent editorial flow, leveraging the capabilities of the Open Journal System (OJS). From submission to evaluation and publication of articles, all editorial processes will be conducted exclusively through this platform starting in January 2025. We invite you to consult the journal’s website for more details on this matter. We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause, but it is necessary to meet the requirements of the open access movement towards the university and society, as well as the quality needs required by the databases in which we are indexed.
Another significant change is the transition to a continuous publication model, to be implemented from January 2025. This practice, adopted by leading journals worldwide, will allow articles to be published as soon as they are ready, ma-king them individually visible immediately after approval, without waiting to complete an issue. This will reduce the time between the submission and publication of an article, decrease the risk of data becoming outdated, provide immediate availability of manuscripts, increase the visibility of research, improve editorial workflows, and accelerate communication systems, allowing the continuous reception of scientific manuscripts. However, we will maintain the organization of the journal in volumes and will publish editorials periodically according to the needs and interests of the scientific community.
We remind you that our journal specializes in social sciences in general, as well as in economics and finance, considering other related areas that impact society. Additionally, we highlight our interest in contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals until 2030.
We appreciate our readers’ comments on this editorial and the proposed changes. Your opinions are always welcome and will be addressed with respect and consideration, as we owe our work to you.
