Impact of marabou on charcoal production: multifactorial statistical study in a Cuban agroforestry enterprise
Keywords:
Charcoal, Production, Marabou, Quality, ImprovementAbstract
Charcoal production for export at the Cienfuegos Agroforestry Company does not meet the desired levels planned for export, affecting economic indicators and forest sustainability. With the aim of maximizing yields using marabou (Dichrostachys cinerea (L.)) as raw material, a completely randomized multifactorial experimental design (DCA), ANOVA analysis (Statgraphics XVI), quality tools (Ishikawa, capability Cpk>1.25), and mixed methods were applied to theorize, process data, and interpret results. Statistical significance of wood type (p=0.0194), superiority of marabou in production (137% projected growth), compliance with customer specifications, and design of a comprehensive action plan to eliminate operational limitations were determined.
