Abstract

In the university training of Education students in Cuba, the aim is to develop creativity and originality as essential skills for their future professional performance. In a study carried out at the University of Sancti Spíritus José Martí Pérez, the expression of originality was characterized as part of creativity in Education students. A sample of 15 students between 20 and 21 years old from the third year of the Education degree was used. Pedagogy-Psychology during the 2022-2023 academic year. Techniques such as the Psychological Test on Alternative Uses and the Creative Thinking Test (CREA) were used to analyze the expression of originality in the resolution of professional problems. The results showed that training programs do not sufficiently encourage originality in students; Diversity was also observed in the original responses when evaluating the ability to ask new questions, highlighting the importance of promoting this skill. In conclusion, the research suggests that it is essential to promote creative and original skills in Pedagogy-Psychology Education students through innovative methodologies and educational strategies, since originality is a key component for professional development and problem solving in situations professionals.
