Implementation of technology in elderly care

Authors

Abstract

Managing elderly care facilities involves managing resources, monitoring residents' health, and communicating with family members. Mobile web applications stand out as promising tools to optimize these processes. This study evaluated the impact of a computer application on the San Pedro de Alausí Nursing Home Foundation, developed in 2023 to improve the administrative and financial management of the institution. The application automates administrative tasks, such as user registration and medical record management, significantly reducing the time and errors associated with manual processes. It allows constant, real-time monitoring of the vital signs and health conditions of the elderly, facilitating the early detection of medical problems. In addition, it improves communication between staff and family members, allowing regular updates on the status of residents and facilitating interaction through messages and notifications about events and activities. The analysis carried out using the Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) identified key criteria such as community knowledge and acceptance, functionality and benefits of the application, technical and economic feasibility, and social and community impact. The results emphasized the importance of focusing on tactics that improve community awareness and acceptance of the foundation, as well as the versatility of the application, which brings direct and visible benefits to the community.
