Estudio de casos y controles sobre factores de riesgo de diabetes mellitus tipo 2 en adultos mayores
Abstract
La Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) es una enfermedad con elevada morbilidad y mortalidad, asociada a factores de riesgo. El objetivo del estudio fue analizar el Sobrepeso u Obesidad, la Dieta y el Tabaquismo como factores de riesgo en adultos mayores de un Consultorio Médico en Matanzas, Cuba. Se efectuó un estudio observacional, transversal, analítico y retrospectivo de tipo caso-control en 628 pacientes, obteniéndose los OR mediante análisis bivariado para un nivel de significancia del 95%. Se obtuvo que los factores de riesgo Dieta y Tabaquismo se asocian a la mayor ocurrencia de la DM2, por lo que se concluyó que se les consideran factores de riesgo, mientras que con el Sobrepeso u Obesidad la asociación no es estadísticamente significativa.

ABSTRACT
Diabetes Mellitus type 2 (DM2) is a disease with high morbidity and mortality, associated with risk factors. The objective of the study was to analyze Overweight or Obesity, Diet and Smoking as risk factors in older adults from a Medical Clinical in Matanzas, Cuba. An observational, cross-sectional, analytical, and retrospective case-control study was carried out in 628 patients, obtaining the ORs through bivariate analysis for a significance level of 95%. It was found that the risk factors Diet and Smoking are associated with the higher occurrence of DM2, so it was concluded that they are considered risk factors, while with Overweight or Obesity the association is not statistically significant.Keywords:
