Femicidio en el Ecuador.

Resumen

La violencia contra la mujer es reconocida como un problema social a nivel mundial, aunque es difícil de cuantificar debido a la cantidad de incidentes no denunciados; Según la Encuesta Nacional sobre Relaciones Familiares y Violencia de Género, 6 de cada 10 mujeres en Ecuador han sufrido violencia de género. Ante esta situación, los gobiernos y la sociedad civil están desarrollando estrategias para eliminar todas las formas de violencia contra las mujeres, incluida la penalización del suicidio en muchas leyes latinoamericanas, pero esto aún no impide que las mujeres mueran por ello esta investigación tiene como objetivo elaborar un documento de conocimiento, resultado y discusión científica que abordó el femicidio en el Ecuador, buscando una revisión del concepto, las características, los tipos y las modalidades delictivas, en conjunto con las penas aplicables. Se implementó la metodología bibliográfica, además de una metodología cuantitativa para poder analizar datos estadísticos a nivel nacional y en la Provincia de Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas. A través de toda la investigación se ha podido evidenciar el avance que tienen otros países respecto de la definición del delito de femicidio y la aplicación de penas drásticas ante este acto criminal.

ABSTRACT

Violence against women is recognized as a social problem worldwide, although it is difficult to quantify due to the number of unreported incidents; according to the National Survey on Family Relations and Gender Violence, 6 out of 10 women in Ecuador have suffered gender violence. Faced with this situation, governments and civil society are developing strategies to eliminate all forms of violence against women, including the criminalization of suicide in many Latin American laws, but this still does not prevent women from dying that is why this research aims to develop a document of knowledge, result and scientific discussion that addressed femicide in Ecuador, seeking a review of the concept, characteristics, types and criminal modalities, in conjunction with the applicable penalties. The bibliographic methodology was implemented, in addition to a quantitative methodology in order to analyze statistical data at the national level and in the Province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas. Throughout the research it has been possible to demonstrate the progress made in other countries with respect to the definition of the crime of femicide and the application of drastic penalties for this criminal act.
