Estimación del potencial de biomasa en Cienfuegos desde una perspectiva socio-ambiental

Abstract

En el presente estudio se determina la cantidad de biomasa disponible en la provincia de Cienfuegos con el propósito de analizar desde una perspectiva socio-ambiental qué participación tiene en la mitigación del cambio climático. Para la determinación de este potencial por fuente de biomasa en el territorio se contó con las informaciones de las unidades productoras. Fue posible además determinar que la fuente de biomasa que mayor cantidad de CO₂ dejó de emitir a la atmósfera fue la paja de caña con 470 611 tCO₂ eq; los residuos de industria azucarera en conjunto dejaron de emitir 829 688 tCO₂ eq. Por otra parte, fueron analizados de manera general los usos de cada fuente de biomasa, predomina la utilización como fertilizante y como alimento animal, el bagazo de caña es un ejemplo de ello, puede ser utilizado tanto como alimento animal como combustible.

ABSTRACT

In the present study the amount of biomass available in the province of Cienfuegos is determined with the purpose of analyzing from a socio-environmental perspective the participation of each one in the mitigation of climate change. For the determination of this potential by source of biomass in the territory were counted with the information of the producing units. It was also possible to determine that the biomass source with the greatest amount of CO2 ceased to emit into the atmosphere was the cane straw with 470 611 tCO₂ eq, where the waste from the sugar industry as a whole stopped emitting 829 688 tCO₂ eq. On the other hand, the significant uses of each source of biomass where the use as fertilizers and animal food predominated were analyzed in general, being the cane bagasse an example of this since it can be used both as animal feed and
