The supervision of urbanization projects, especially in environments of disorderly urban growth and institutional weakness, has represented a critical challenge for transparency and resource management. Therefore, this study has proposed control strategies aimed at preventing fraud and strengthening transparency and efficiency in management, by ensuring regulatory compliance and promoting the sustainable development of cities. To this end, the study has been guided by a qualitative approach and an analysis of literature on cases in Latin America regarding the supervision of urbanization projects. As a result, it has been found that strengthening internal controls, combined with citizen participation, has improved the detection of irregularities and increased efficiency in the execution of urban projects. Furthermore, it has been concluded that these strategies have not only mitigated risks associated with fraud, but have also promoted sustainability and inclusive and responsible urban growth, by highlighting their applicability in various regions of the country.
