Resilience and mental load in university teachers

Abstract

This research was about the evaluation of mental load and resilience in teachers of the Faculty of Engineering of the National University of Chimborazo, where the teacher subjected to high mental load due to his work makes resilience the ability to respond to a problem, and thus be able to overcome difficulties and grow from them. The objective is to determine the levels of mental load and resilience of the teachers of the Faculty of Engineering. Swat and Wagnild and Young's mental load tests were applied to teachers, complemented by sociodemographic variables. The population consisted of 97 university professors. The result found of Mental load: 1% low, 80.4 medium and 18.6% high, referring to resilience by levels was: 2.1% medium and 97.9% high. The presence of levels of medium-high mental load and resilience in a similar way is concluded, this shows how teachers face in a resilient way to solve the problems of academic activity and family to avoid future problems in their health.
