Abstract

The reconciliation of women's work and family life is a latent problem in Ecuador, in the member countries of the Andean Community and in the world, since women joined the labor market. The objective of the research is to deal with the problem of women reconciling their productive and reproductive work. The documentary and descriptive research method was applied with interviews with people relevant to the research. It begins with the background of women's work and work-life balance; it also refers to the regulations of the member countries of the Andean Community of Nations, with respect to reconciliation and family co-responsibility declared in the constitution, laws, codes, public policies and in the discourses on equality. Finally, the findings found in the research regarding the co-responsibility between men and women for family care work and in other categories when they are supported by people from the family or outside the family are classified. It is concluded that the state is and will be responsible for the creation and execution of policies that favor women, however, patriarchy is rooted in the state culture, of the same women and men in the member countries of the Andean Community of Nations.
