Social innovation in creative districts

Abstract

Creative districts constitute an element of post-industrial economies based on knowledge and creativity. They not only contribute to economic growth and job creation, but also to the promotion of cultural identity and diversity. Studies on social innovation processes in cultural and creative potential in urban areas are insufficient; These concentrate cultural values, productive chains, new forms of management, institutions and academic centers that can constitute references to strategically plan the benefit to the population. In relation to innovation, topics have been addressed for the organization of science and innovation at the national level in Cuba. The contributions of the creative industry and the importance of social innovation for the sustainable development of people are relevant and current topics; However, in practice they have not been conceived in an integrated way, although the actions of social actors have contributed to this. In this work, theoretical elements about social innovation in creative districts were analyzed. To this end, definitions of these concepts and the relationship established between them in the construction of a common scenario were addressed. The study of the topic contributes to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals, fundamentally 8, 10 and 11, referring to sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, decent work for all, the reduction of inequalities. and the achievement of inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and human settlements.
