Unidos por sangre e ideales: la familia cienfueguera Alomá Ciarlos

RESUMEN

El estudio tiene como objetivo analizar, de manera descriptiva y cronológica, un grupo de elementos de la vida de la familia Alomá Ciarlos durante el período de la llamada Guerra Necesaria o Guerra de Independencia (1895-1898). La familia Alomá Ciarlos es uno de los núcleos familiares decimonónicos del país, precisados de la atención de la historiografía nacional y la regional sureña. Como investigación histórica tiene un enfoque metodológico cualitativo. Se fundamenta en fuentes archivísticas primarias, complementadas con fuentes secundarias. Se operó, desde la técnica heurística, con los métodos científicos teóricos histórico-lógico, inducción-deducción, abstracto-concreto y análisis-síntesis, entre otros. Las fuentes fueron sometidas al análisis documental, y a la crítica externa e interna. El contenido histórico develado, sustento del estudio, tiene como base la consulta y análisis de fuentes primarias atesoradas sobre dicha familia en el Archivo Histórico Provincial de Granma “José Manuel Carbonell Alard”. Se ratificó la utilidad del enfoque de la historia social, en cuyos preceptos teórico-metodológicos se basó. Se ratificó la tesis que atribuye a los Alomá Ciarlos introducir la práctica del béisbol en República Dominicana. No obstante, se coincide en lo imperioso de localizar más evidencias que permitan ratificarlo de manera concluyente. El estudio develó una situación en la cual se vieron abocadas numerosas familias cubanas durante la Guerra de Independencia de 1895-1898. Por último, se considera que el tema de las historias de familia precisa de una mayor atención de los historiadores dado cuanto históricamente descubre más allá de los tradicionales grandes hechos y figuras.

 Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze, in a descriptive and chronological way, some members of the Alomá Ciarlos family in the so-called Necessary War or War of Independence (1895-1898). The Alomá Ciarlos family is one of the many nineteenth-century family nuclei of the country, still in need of the attention of the national and regional historiography of the south. As historical research it has a qualitative methodological approach. It is based on primary archival sources, complemented with secondary sources. It operated, from the heuristic technique, to the theoretical scientific methods, such as, historical-logical, induction-deduction, abstract-concrete and analysis-synthesis, among others. The sources were subjected to documentary analysis, and to external and internal criticism. The unveiled historical content, underpinning the study, is based on the consultation and analysis of primary sources treasured on this family in the Provincial Historical Archive of Granma "José Manuel Carbonell Alard". The study ratified the usefulness of social history approach, in which theoretical-methodological precepts it was based. It ratified the thesis that attributes to the Alomá Ciarlos family to be the initiators of baseball practice in the Dominican Republic. However, it was agreed that it is imperative to locate more evidence to confirm it conclusively. The study revealed a situation in which numerous Cuban families were involved during the War of Independence of 1895-1898. Finally, it is considered that the subject of family histories needs greater attention from historians given how much historically it uncovers beyond the traditional great facts and figures.
