Eco-efficiency in urban freight transportation: a bibliometric and systematic literature review

Resumen

Urban freight transport is currently of vital importance for the cities economic growth, but at the same time, it is one of the most representative sources of pollutant emissions. Although numerous models and approaches have been proposed that aim to improve the eco-efficiency of urban distribution, few have classified the available information by combining bibliometric and systematic analysis. The objective of this paper is to present a comprehensive science mapping analysis using a bibliometric analysis from 2004 to 2021 and a systematic review of the literature of the most relevant papers based on the identification of the attributes of the main investigations. In the systematic review, a search protocol was used to classify and index using a computer tool for the selection of keywords in the title and the abstract. The results showed that the first five most academically productive countries are attributed 50% of the world's academic production, in the same way, the five most cited countries concentrate 52% of the citations. The systematic review allowed us to identify: the lack of studies with validation with real field data, the trend of use of historical and real-time traffic records, and the prevalence of research towards optimizing operational logistics costs.

RESUMEN

El transporte urbano de mercancías es de vital importancia para el crecimiento económico de las ciudades, pero al mismo tiempo, es una de las mayore fuentes de gases contaminantes. Aunque se han propuesto numerosos modelos y enfoques que tienen como objetivo mejorar la ecoeficiencia de la distribución urbana, pocos han clasificado la información disponible combinando análisis bibliométrico y sistemático. El objetivo de este artículo es presentar un análisis exhaustivo del mapeo científico mediante un análisis bibliométrico de 2004 a 2021 y una revisión sistemática de la literatura de los artículos más relevantes a partir de la identificación de los atributos de investigación principales. En la revisión sistemática se utilizó un protocolo de búsqueda de las palabras clave en el título y el resumen. Los resultados mostraron que a los cinco primeros países más productivos académicamente tienen el 50% de la producción académica mundial, de igual forma, los cinco países más citados concentran el 52% de las citas. La revisión sistemática permitió identificar: la falta de estudios con validación con datos de campo reales, la tendencia de uso de registros de tráfico históricos y en tiempo real, y el predominio de la investigación hacia la optimización de los costos logísticos operativos.
