Lives on the move: narratives of futures in young Latin American residents in Lagos region, Chile 2020-2023
Abstract
The article shows the narratives of futures projected by young Latin American migrants settled in urban contexts of the Los Lagos region, highlighting the current configurations of their daily dynamics related to the search for employment opportunities, quality of life and collective integration between 2020-2023. The methodology followed two approaches, the first from multisite ethnography where information was collected through observation and recording of cultural activities and the development of in-depth interviews, and the second from an interdisciplinary perspective proposed by futures studies, where workshops were developed to describe the projections in the present that young people imagine about their permanence in subnational contexts in Chile. The results show a qualitative approach to the aspirations and desires that these young people project as part of their experiences in the design of creative strategies in the places where they are settled.
