Evaluation of common bean varieties in the municipality of Palmira, Cienfuegos
Abstract
The study was carried out on the La Flora farm, on brown soil during the period from January to April 2022. The objective of which was to evaluate the behavior of original varieties of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), indicators of growth, yield and pest incidences. Regarding growth, the following were evaluated: percentage of emergence, plant height at 10, 25 and 40 days after sowing and yield: number of pods per plant, number of grains per pod, mass of grains per pod and final yield. The incidence of pests on the foliage of the plant was analyzed. The varieties obtained emergence percentages greater than 96%, Buena Ventura obtained a yield of 1.46 t. ha-1, grain production contributes to food security in the municipality of Palmira.
