Research Data Management at the University of Cienfuegos
Abstract
The Open Science approach has gained prominence worldwide since the mid-20th century in order to achieve greater visibility of scientific research. In the Cuban scenario, it has gained space for development based on the evolution of information technologies and the high scientific research activity deployed in Higher Education institutions. In this sense, various projects and strategies have been carried out for the implementation of Science and Open Education in order to enhance access to scientific knowledge. The main objectives of this research are to analyze various definitions of Open Science, and the state of knowledge about Research Data Management at the Carlos Rafael Rodríguez University of Cienfuegos. The research is based on a mixed approach methodology, since a qualitative analysis of the topic under study is presented, as well as the quantitative results of a diagnosis applied in this academic institution. These results constitute part of extensive research carried out in 4 Latin American universities for the design of institutional policies for Research Data Management and thereby promote the development of Open Science in this regional context. The research concludes with the imprint of carrying out training activities for the management and use of Research Data Management by researchers.
