Variantes de COVID-19 predominates en Ecuador y sus síntomas asociados

Abstract

Los coronavirus se clasifican en variantes de preocupación (VOC) y variantes de interés (VOI). El objetivo principal de artículo consiste en revisar los diferentes signos y síntomas que han presentado los pacientes con COVID-19. Adicionalmente se establecen la frecuencia y se promueven medidas de prevención de la enfermedad mediante revisiones bibliográficas de plataformas académicas, y documentos publicadas por la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS). Se reportan diferencia en la sintomatología y transmisibilidad. Se revisó que ésta dependerá de cada variante (Delta, Gamma, Lambda, Alpha y Ómicron) en donde los síntomas más comunes fueron: tos, fiebre, cefalea, y odinofagia, mientras que los menos comunes fueron: anosmia, disgeusia y síntomas gastrointestinales. Alpha y Delta fueron las variantes que resaltan por las mutaciones presentes a nivel de la proteína Spike lo que les hace más transmisibles.

ABSTRACT

Coronaviruses are classified into variants of concern (VOC) and variants of interest (VOI). The main objective of this article is to review the different signs and symptoms presented by patients with COVID-19. Additionally, the frequency is established and disease prevention measures are promoted through bibliographic reviews of academic platforms and documents published by the World Health Organization (WHO). Differences in symptomatology and transmissibility are reported. It was reviewed that this will depend on each variant (Delta, Gamma, Lambda, Alpha and Omicron) were the most common symptoms were: cough, fever, headache, and odynophagia, while the least common were: anosmia, dysgeusia and gastrointestinal symptoms. Alpha and Delta were the variants that stand out for the mutations present at the level of the Spike protein, which makes them more transmissible.
