Correlación cefalométrica de rama y cuerpo mandibular en adultos jóvenes andinos, año 2019

Abstract

La mandíbula presenta modificaciones morfométricas de acuerdo a los mecanismos biológicos y funcionales de cada población; por lo tanto, el objetivo de esta investigación fue conocer la posible correlación cefalométrica de la rama y cuerpo mandibular en adultos jóvenes Andinos. Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, de tipo correlacional con diseño documental-retrospectivo no experimental, con una muestra de 384 radiografías laterales de cráneo, utilizando la fórmula tamaño muestral finita con un 95% de confianza y un 5% de error. Los resultados permiten estimar una posible correlación estadística positiva entre el cuerpo y la rama mandibular; en conclusión, la presente investigación valora que el tamaño del cuerpo mandibular es directamente proporcional al tamaño de la rama mandibular de adultos jóvenes Andinos.

ABSTRACT

The mandible presents morphometric modifications according to the biological and functional mechanisms of each population; therefore, the objective of this research was to know the possible cephalometric correlation of the mandibular ramus and body in young Andean adults. A quantitative, correlational study was carried out with a non-experimental retrospective documentary design, with a sample of 384 lateral skull radiographs, using the finite sample size formula with 95% confidence and 5% error. The results allow estimating a possible positive statistical correlation between the body and the mandibular ramus; In conclusion, the present investigation assesses that the size of the mandibular body is directly proportional to the size of the mandibular ramus of young Andean adults.
