Ecoturismo en el Jardín Botánico Nacional de Cuba: una opción de sostenibilidad económica.

Resumen

El Jardín Botánico Nacional (JBC) de Cuba es una institución dedicada a la exposición de la diversidad vegetal tropical con un notable desempeño de acciones de educación ambiental e incluye además entre sus objetivos esenciales la recreación de los visitantes. Por otro lado, el ecoturismo es una modalidad de turismo alternativo ambientalmente responsable consistente en visitar áreas naturales sin disturbios con el fin de disfrutar, apreciar y estudiar los atractivos naturales (paisaje, flora y fauna) que puedan encontrarse a través de un proceso que promueve la conservacion y propicia un involucramiento activo y socioeconómicamente beneficiosos a las poblaciones locales. El trabajo analiza las potencialidades del JBN para desarrollar el ecoturismo y las acciones necesarias para poder insertarse en este tipo de mercado. Se profundiza en las características de los senderos interpretativos y se propone como desarrollarlo en el área de Bosque Arcaico. Se propone el recorrido a realizar y las posibles paradas teniendo en cuenta que en esta área se agrupan un conjunto de plantas con características antiguas, que evolutivamente están emparentadas y guardan gran semejanza con sus antepasados. Las paradas que se proponen posibilitan la interpretación de características evolutivas de las familias representadas.

 ABSTRACT

The National Botanical Garden of Cuba is an institution dedicated to the exhibition of tropical plant diversity with a notable performance of environmental education actions and also includes among its essential objectives the recreation of visitors. On the other hand, ecotourism is an environmentally responsible alternative tourism modality consisting of visiting natural areas without disturbances in order to enjoy, appreciate and study the natural attractions (landscape, flora and fauna) that can be found through a process that promotes the conservation and encourages an active and socio-economically beneficial involvement of local populations. The paper analyzes the potential of the JBN to develop ecotourism and the actions necessary to be able to enter in this type of market. It delves into the characteristics of the interpretive trails and proposes how to develop it in the Archaic Forest area. The route to be carried out and the possible stops are proposed taking into account that in this area a group of plants with ancient characteristics are grouped, which are evolutionarily related and bear great resemblance to their ancestors. The proposed stops make it possible to interpret the evolutionary characteristics of the families represented
