Periodontitis dental en adolescentes, importancia de su evaluación oportuna

Resumen

La importancia de la evaluación realizada radica en saber que tan propensos son los adolescentes de contraer enfermedad periodontal, como están manejando el tema de la higiene bucal, que tanto conocen acerca de la gingivitis y periodontitis. El trabajo investigativo aborda la enfermedad periodontal, que ocurren en el tejido que rodea y sostiene los dientes. De esta forma proceder a brindar información acerca de todos los temas que tienen que ver con la enfermedad periodontal. Se realizó un estudio a 60 estudiantes adolescentes que oscilan en edades de 14 a 16 años. Las variables estudiadas fueron: Los síntomas de posible enfermedad periodontal, la higiene bucal en general y su frecuencia. En los adolescentes evaluados el 73% presenta una buena higiene bucal bastante básica, pero el riesgo de contraer la enfermedad aun es vigente ya que un 43% indicó que no utiliza hilo dental, lo cual aumenta el riesgo de enfermedad periodontal.

ABSTRACT

The importance of the evaluation lies in knowing how prone adolescents are to periodontal disease, how they are handling the subject of oral hygiene, how much they know about gingivitis and periodontitis. The research work addresses periodontal disease, which occurs in the tissue that surrounds and supports the teeth. In this way we proceed to provide information about all the issues that have to do with periodontal disease. A study was carried out with 60 adolescent students ranging in age from 14 to 16 years. The variables studied were: symptoms of possible periodontal disease, oral hygiene in general and its frequency. Among the adolescents evaluated, 73% showed good oral hygiene, but the risk of contracting the disease is still present, as 43% indicated that they do not use dental floss, which increases the risk of periodontal disease.
