Conflictos éticos de la ingeniería genética

Resumen

La ciencia ha avanzado tanto en los últimos 50 años, muchas veces sin tomar en cuenta las repercusiones de sus descubrimientos, ha generado sendos conflictos morales, del buen vivir, con la sociedad y en la naturaleza, obligando con esto a que también la ética evolucione. Primero fue la Deontología Médica, una ética profesional pegada más a la relación del médico con el paciente, luego fue la Ética Médica, que deja muchos vacíos, en la conducta del investigador en torno a sus experimentos. También es importante recalcar, que la ciencia actual, puede con base en sus experimentos de manera asexuada, crear vida y en particular embriones humanos, hay indicios de que ya se los está haciendo de manera clandestina y esto no deja dudas del peligro que representa estas investigaciones. Con la necesidad de normar estos trabajos científicos, aparece la Bioética, que es un puente que une la conciencia moral con las nuevas tecnologías y descubrimientos. El presente artículo tiene el objetivo, de acercar al estudiante que se está formando cómo médico al conocimiento de estos temas y a lograr un criterio que le permita actuar dado el caso, con una actitud honesta, apegada a la defensa de los derechos humanos y de la naturaleza.

ABSTRACT

Science has advanced a lot in the last 50 years, often without taking into account the repercussions of its discoveries. It has generated moral conflicts between good living and society and good living and nature, thus forcing ethics to evolve as well. First there was Medical Deontology, a professional ethics more closely related to the relationship between the physician and the patient; then there was Medical Ethics, which leaves many gaps in the conduct of the researcher in relation to his experiments. It is also important to emphasize that current science, based on its experiments in an asexual manner, can create life and in particular human embryos. There is evidence that this is already happening secretly, leaving no doubt as to the danger posed by these researches. Bioethics appears as a need to regulate this type of scientific work; it is a bridge that joins moral conscience with new technologies and discoveries. The objective of this article is to sensitize medical students with these issues and to encourage an ethics that will allow them to take action if necessary, with an honest attitude, committed to the defense of human rights and nature.
