La Revista “Universidad y Sociedad” (RUS) en su versión electrónica, nació en víspera del XXX Aniversario de la Universidad de Cienfuegos “Carlos Rafael Rodríguez” (2008), con el objetivo de propiciar el intercambio en áreas de las ciencias sociales, humanísticas, económicas, técnicas y otras con un carácter interdisciplinario e integrado a nivel nacional e internacional.

Para ello, integra a una comunidad de expertos, docentes, investigadores y profesionales con intereses en tales perfiles. Asimismo, desarrolla espacios de colaboración en el ámbito de la gestión del conocimiento y la innovación para el desarrollo de la sociedad a través de la publicación y difusión, de forma gratuita, de resultados científicos y la generalización de experiencias en las instituciones académicas y de investigación.

Desde su inicio, ha cambiado de aspecto y tecnología dos veces a fin de mantener una imagen y un acceso acorde con el código abierto que permite la Web 2.0; con una evolución tanto técnica, como estética.

La Revista dedica el ochenta por ciento (80%), o más del volumen de cada edición, a la publicación de artículos originales; y el resto a temas vinculados con la divulgación de la ciencia y la innovación.

Entre las ventajas específicas que tiene publicar en “Universidad y Sociedad” se encuentra, en primer lugar, ser rentable para el autor, dado su carácter de acceso abierto a la literatura científica en idioma español, que promueve la eliminación de los monopolios y las restricciones económicas, legales y tecnológicas, que supone la publicación en editoriales que trabajan en el formato tradicional; concentrándose en lo esencial: brindar una mayor accesibilidad para los documentos y una mayor visibilidad para los autores.

En segundo lugar, ofrece a los autores un proceso de evaluación de sus trabajos mucho más ágil; esto es, el comité editorial que conforma nuestra publicación revisa, evalúa y califica los trabajos sometidos en un tiempo prudencial, de manera que se agiliza también el proceso de publicación, de ser aceptado un trabajo.

Nuestro comité editorial, del cual forman parte prestigiosos académicos e investigadores, del ámbito nacional e internacional, está comprometido con la agilidad de este proceso. Asimismo, se abren las puertas a los nuevos autores que desean presentar a la comunidad científica sus trabajos de investigación y que no son admitidos en otras revistas.

Un aspecto importante resulta la calidad de los contenidos. Es responsabilidad de la dirección y su consejo editorial ofrecer un producto de la máxima calidad. El impacto de la publicación se sustenta en que:

• El 80 % del total de los contenidos son originales de interés científico o técnico. El 20 % del total del total de cada edición está dedicado a temas vinculados con la divulgación de la ciencia y la innovación.

• Ofrece minuciosas instrucciones a los autores para la presentación de los artículos y la elaboración de las referencias y rigurosa evaluación por pares.

• Tiene servicios de valor añadido (alertas, foros, guías de enlaces, entre otros), que permitirán mantener un contacto permanente entre el investigador, los revisores y el Consejo Editorial sobre el proceso de edición.

• Difunde los contenidos en bases de datos bibliográficas, portales de agregación de revistas y directorios internacionales, que posicionan los artículos en los primeros puestos de los resultados de buscadores como Google Scholar.

La Revista se encuentra reconocida en el Registro Nacional de Publicaciones Seriadas (La Habana, Cuba), RNSP: 2190, tomo 1, folio 196 y está indexada en directorios, catálogos y bases de datos internacionales como: Latindex, Directory of Research Journals Indexing (DRJI), Directory of Open Accesss Journals (DOAJ), la Biblioteca Científico-Electrónica en Línea (en inglés Scientific Electronic Library Online, SciELO) y el Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) de la Web of Science.

History of the Journal

The "Universidad y Sociedad" (RUS) Journal in its electronic version, was born on the eve of the XXX Anniversary of the University of Cienfuegos "Carlos Rafael Rodríguez" (2008), with the aim of promoting the exchange in areas of social, humanistic, economic, technical and others sciences with an interdisciplinary character and it is integrated nationally and internationally.

To do this, it integrates a community of experts, teachers, researchers and professionals with interests in those profiles. It also develops collaborative spaces in the field of knowledge management and innovation for the development of society through the publication and dissemination of scientific results and the generalization of experiences in academic and research institutions.

Since its beginning, it has changed its appearance and technology twice in order to maintain an image and access consistent with the open source that Web 2.0 allows; with an evolution both technical and aesthetic.

The Journal dedicates eighty percent (80%), or more of the volume of each edition to the publication of original articles; and the rest to issues related to the dissemination of science and innovation.

Among the specific advantages that it has to publish in "Universidad y Sociedad" Journal is, first of all, to be profitable for the author, given its character of open access to scientific literature in Spanish, which promotes the elimination of monopolies and economic, legal and technological restrictions, which involves publishing in editorial houses that work in a traditional format; focusing on the essentials: providing greater accessibility for documents and greater visibility for authors.

Secondly, it offers its authors a much more agile evaluation process of their works; that is, the editorial committee that makes up our publication reviews, evaluates and qualifies the works sometimes in a reasonable time, so that the publication process is also expedited, if a work is accepted.

Our Editorial Board, of which prestigious academics and researchers are part of the national and international scope, is committed to the agility of this process. Likewise, the doors are opened to new authors who wish to present their research papers to the scientific community and who are not admitted to other journals.

It is the responsibility of the management and its editorial board to offer a product of the highest quality. The impact of the publication is based on:

• 80% of the total contents are of original scientific or technical interest. 20% of the total of each edition is dedicated to topics related to the dissemination of science and innovation.

• Offers detailed instructions to the authors for the presentation of the articles and the elaboration of the references and rigorous peer evaluation.

• It has value-added services (alerts, forums, links guides, among others), which will allow permanent contact among the researcher, the reviewers and the Editorial Board about the editing process.

• Disseminates the contents in bibliographical databases, journal aggregation portals and international directories, which position the articles in the top positions of searchers such as Google Scholar.

The Journal is recognized in the National Registry of Serial Publications (Havana, Cuba), RNSP: 2190, volume 1, folio 196 and it is indexed in international directories, catalogs and databases such as: Latindex, Directory of Research Journals Indexing (DRJI), Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), the Scientific-Electronic Online Library (SciELO) and the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of the Web of Science.

Proceso de evaluación por pares

Todos los artículos publicados en la Revista Universidad y Sociedad son previamente sometidos a revisión por su director y editores. Posteriormente son enviados a dos expertos del contenido, en dependencia de la materia que aborden, quienes lo evalúan utilizando el método de Revisión por Pares Abierta (Open Peer Review), para cumplir con la filosofía del movimiento de Ciencia Abierta (Open Science).

Se realiza un proceso de revisión abierta, los revisores seleccionados no forman parte del equipo editor de la revista, ni de la editorial Universo Sur, además se limita la selección de evaluadores de la Universidad de Cienfuegos "Carlos Rafael Rodríguez" y potencia la selección de expertos de otras instituciones de Cuba y el resto del mundo.

Garantía de revisión

Los autores deben entregar su artículo con su información personal (nombre y apellidos, dirección electrónica, código ORCID, adscripción académica y país).

Fases del proceso de evaluación de un artículo

Fase 1: envío del original.

Fase 2: valoración por parte del equipo editorial de la revista del envío recibido; se analiza con un software antiplagio (Urkund) y se decide si el trabajo pasa a ser revisado por expertos o si es descartado, ya sea por motivos formales o de contenido.

Fase 3: evaluación del original por parte de dos expertos en el ámbito temático que corresponda.

El editor o el director envía e original a dos expertos en el contenido y que son externos al consejo editorial, con copia a los autores, quienes conocerán quienes son sus revisores. A los expertos se les pide que consideren los siguientes indicadores: adecuación del trabajo a la temática; presentación y escritura del texto; originalidad e interés del contenido; descripción del tema central de la investigación; exposición del marco teórico-conceptual; adecuación de la metodología empleada; exposición y análisis de los resultados y conclusiones; pertinencia de las referencias bibliográficas; y adecuación de tablas y figuras.

La revista ofrece instrucciones y un formulario, que les permite a los revisores evaluar la calidad y pertinencia de los artículos.

Fase 4: intercambio y consenso entre autores y/o revisores.

Los revisores intercambiarán con el/los autor/es durante este momento. Ofrecerán sugerencias y valorarán los criterios emitidos por los autores. También podrán intercambiar entre ellos.

Fase 5: envío del resultado de la evaluación a los responsables de la revista.

Los revisores emitirán un único documento con el dictamen y lo enviarán al editor de la revista y a los autores, que, en correspondencia con la información dada, tomará la decisión y decidirá si hay que enviar el trabajo a un tercer revisor, cuando es rechazado por uno de ellos; en este caso el director tiene la potestad de aceptar o no el artículo.

Aceptación: un artículo es aprobado si el resultado de la evaluación es positivo y el equipo editorial considera que no hay que solicitar ningún cambio a los autores.

No aceptación: un artículo es rechazado si el resultado de una o de las dos evaluaciones es negativo.

Se requieren modificaciones: el autor deberá corregir los cambios que se sugieren para que sea publicado con la calidad requerida.

En caso de que el autor sugiera un posible revisor para su artículo, la revista se reserva el derecho de tomar en consideración dicha recomendación o no.

Fase 6: socialización del número.

El número es puesto a disposición de la comunidad científica y los lectores y otros autores emitirán criterios acerca de los artículos publicados. Lo cual será tenido en cuenta para la publicación de otras contribuciones; del mismo u otros autores.

Proceso editorial

La Revista Universidad y sociedd utiliza para la gestión del proceso editorial el sistema informático Open Journal System (OJS), que automatiza este procedimiento.

Se desarrolla como sigue:

1. El autor envía el manuscrito a Revista Universidad y Sociedad. Para su envío siempre debe realizarlo través de la plataforma:

• Se ha de registrar en la web de la Revista: https://rus.ucf.edu.cu/index.php/rus, https://universosur.ucf.edu.cu/index.php/en/revistas ó en http://www.ucf.edu.cu

• En caso de no estar accesible la plataforma para el registro de nuevos usuarios o esta no funcione al envío, podrá emplarse el envío o comunicación a través del correo electrónico rus@ucf.edu.cu.

• Antes de subir el artículo se le solicita que realice ciertas confirmaciones (declaración de autoría y originalidad, declaración de exclusividad, de conflictos de interés, aprobación de su publicación como Open Access, etcétera).

2. Antes de enviar definitivamente el archivo, es necesario que los autores comprueben que han introducido en la plataforma los metadatos colocados adecuadamente.

Nota: Los archivos subidos a la plataforma no deben superar los 3Mb de peso. En caso de que así sea, los autores deben enviarlo vía email a: rus@ucf.edu.cu, indicando el artículo al que pertenecen. El editor se encargará de notificar su recepción e incorporarlo a la documentación del artículo.

3. El autor recibirá la confirmación de la recepción de su artículo en el plazo de 5 días desde su envío. En el período de un mes desde dicha recepción la Revista Universidad y Sociedad tiene la obligación de dar una respuesta a sus autores en relación a:

• Admisión del trabajo y envío a evaluación por los expertos.

• Si hay rechazo por parte del Consejo Editorial antes del envío a evaluación del artículo, si se considera que presenta carencias formales o temáticas lo suficientemente importantes como para no continuar con el procedimiento.

• Necesidad de realizar cambios formales imprescindibles antes de su paso a evaluación por los expertos.

La Revista Universidad y Sociedad se compromete a seguir estrictamente las recomendaciones realizadas por sus evaluadores.

4. En cuanto a las posiciones de los revisores, se seguirán los siguientes criterios:

• Si los dos evaluadores están de acuerdo en lo procedente de su publicación, así se le informará a sus autores, en un único documento.

• Si ambos expertos emiten un juicio negativo, el artículo será rechazado.

• Si hay discrepancia, se acudirá a un tercer evaluador/a para decidir su aprobación o el editor decidirá.

• Si los evaluadores consideran necesario la realización de cambios, se solicitará a los autores una segunda versión. La decisión sobre esta versión será determinante para emitir un juicio final.

Una vez confirmada su publicación la Revista Universidad y Sociedad podrá emitir certificados a los autores sobre la publicación de su artículo si así lo solicitan. De no ser así, se expedirán tras la publicación del número correspondiente.

5. El artículo pasará a corrección. El corrector enviará las galeradas al autor en formato .pdf.

Una vez realizadas las modificaciones por los autores lo podrán enviar vía correo electrónico, dentro de un documento Word.

Cuando haya más de un/a autor/a se enviará el artículo corregido tan solo a la persona que indicó el grupo cuando envió la versión original y la comunicación será con esta, a no ser que se indique al Director y/o Editor lo contrario. El corrector recibirá de vuelta un solo documento con todos los cambios solicitados. En ningún caso se podrá modificar el artículo de forma que cambie la versión final aprobada por los evaluadores.

Peer Evaluation Process

All articles published in the Revista Universidad y Sociedad are previously submitted for review by its director and editors. They are then sent to two content experts, depending on the subject matter, who evaluate them using the Open Peer Review method, in order to comply with the philosophy of the Open Science movement.

An open review process is carried out, the selected reviewers are not part of the journal's editorial team, nor of the Universo Sur publishing house, and the selection of reviewers is limited to the University of Cienfuegos "Carlos Rafael Rodríguez" and enhances the selection of other institutions in Cuba and the rest of the world.

Review Guarantee

Authors must submit their article with their personal information (name and last name, email address, ORCID code, academic affiliation and country).

Phases of the evaluation process of an article

Phase 1: sending of the original.

Phase 2: assessment by the editorial team of the journal of the document received; it is analyzed with anti-plagiarism software (Urkund) and it is decided if the work is reviewed by experts or if it is discarded, either for formal or content reasons.

Phase 3: evaluation of the original by two experts in the relevant subject area.

The editor or director sends the original to two experts of the content, with a copy to the authors, who will know who their reviewers are. Experts are asked to consider the following: adequacy of work to the subject; presentation and writing of the text; originality and interest of the content; description of the central theme of the investigation; exposition of the theoretical-conceptual framework; adequacy of the methodology used; presentation and analysis of the results and conclusions; relevance of bibliographic references; and adequacy of tables and figures.

The journal offers instructions and a form, which allows reviewers to evaluate the quality and relevance of the articles.

Phase 4: exchange and consensus between authors and / or reviewers.

Phase 5: sending the result of the evaluation to those responsible for the journal.

The reviewers will issue a single document with the opinion and send it to the editor of the journal and to the authors, who, in correspondence with the information given, will make the decision and decide whether the work should be sent to a third reviewer, when rejected by one of them; in this case, the director has the power to accept the article or not.

Acceptance: an article is approved if the result of the evaluation is positive and the editorial team considers that there is no need to request any changes from the authors.

Non-acceptance: an article is rejected if the result of one or both evaluations is negative.

Modifications are required: the author must correct the suggested changes to be published with the required quality.

In case the author suggests a possible reviewer for the article, the journal reserves the right to take that recommendation into consideration or not.

Phase 6: socialization of the edition.

The edition is made available to the scientific community and readers and other authors will issue criteria about published articles, which will be taken into account for the publication of other contributions of the same or other authors.

Editorial process

The Revista Universidad y Sociedad uses the Open Journal System (OJS), which automates this procedure, for the management of the editorial process.

It develops as follows:

1. The author sends the manuscript to Revista Científica Cultura, Comunicación y Desarrollo. The sending should always be through the platform:

• It must be registered on the Journal website: https://rus.ucf.edu.cu/index.php/rus, https://universosur.ucf.edu.cu/index.php/en/revistas or at http://www.ucf.edu.cu

• In the event that the platform for the registration of new users is not accessible or does not work when sending, the sending or communication through the e-mail rus@ucf.edu.cu may be used.

• Before uploading the article, you are asked to make certain confirmations (declaration of authorship and originality, declaration of exclusivity, conflicts of interest, approval of publication as Open Access, etc.).

2. Before sending the file definitively, it is necessary for the authors to verify that they have introduced the metadata properly placed on the platform.

Note: Files uploaded to the platform must not exceed 3Mb in weight.

If so, the authors must send it via email to: rus@ucf.edu.cu, indicating the article to which they belong. The editor will be responsible for notifying its receipt and incorporating it into the documentation of the article.

3. The author will receive confirmation of the receipt of the article within 5 days of being sent. In the period of one month from the reception, the Revista Universidad y Sociedad has the obligation to give an answer to its authors in relation to:

• Admission of work and submission for evaluation by experts.

• If there is a rejection by the Editorial Board before the article is submitted for evaluation, if it is considered to have formal or thematic deficiencies important enough to stop with the procedure.

• The need of making essential formal changes before passing to evaluation by experts.

Revista Universidad y Sociedad undertakes to strictly follow the recommendations made by its evaluators.

4. Regarding the positions of the reviewers, the following criteria will be followed:

• If the two evaluators agree on what is coming from the publication, it will be informed in a single document.

• If both experts make a negative judgment, the article will be rejected.

• If there is a discrepancy, a third evaluator will be consulted to decide their approval or the editor will decide.

• If the evaluators consider necessary changes, a second version will be requested from the authors. The decision on this version will be decisive to issue a final judgment.

Once its publication is confirmed, the Revista Universidad y Sociedad may issue certificates to the authors regarding the publication of their article if they so request. Otherwise, they will be issued after the publication of the corresponding edition.

5. The article will be corrected. The proofreader will send the galleys to the author in pdf format.

Once the modifications have been made by the authors, they can send it via email, within a Word document.

When there is more than one author, the corrected article will be sent only to the person who indicated the group when they sent the original version and the communication will be with it, unless the Director and / or Editor are indicated. The proofreader will receive back a single document with all the requested changes. In any case the article may be modified, so that the final version approved by the evaluators changes.

Declaración ética y buenas prácticas

El equipo editorial de la Revista Universidad y Sociedad se encuentra comprometido con la comunidad científica en garantizar la ética y calidad de los artículos publicados, a partir del código de conducta y buenas prácticas que el Comité de Ética en Publicaciones (en inglés Committee on Publication Ethics, COPE) define para editores de revistas científicas.

Compromisos de los autores

•Originalidad y plagio: Los autores que envíen manuscritos a la Revista Universidad y Sociedad deben garantizar que el trabajo es original y que no contiene, de manera total o parcial, contenidos de otros autores. Además, deberán confirmar que no se han modificado los datos empíricos obtenidos para verificar la hipótesis.

•Publicaciones múltiples y/o repetitivas: El autor no podrá publicar artículos, en más de una revista científica, donde muestre los mismos resultados. El envío simultáneo de la misma contribución a otras revistas es considerado éticamente incorrecto.

•Lista de fuentes: el autor debe citar de forma correcta las fuentes y los aportes mencionados en el artículo.

•Autoría: los autores deben garantizar la inclusión de aquellas personas que han hecho una contribución al trabajo. También es necesario que se jerarquicen los autores, conforme a su nivel de responsabilidad e implicación en su elaboración.

•Acceso y retención: Los autores de los artículos deben poner a disposición de los editores, en caso que fuera necesario, las fuentes o los datos que se utilizan en la investigación, que puede conservarse durante un período de tiempo y hacerse accesible.

•Conflicto de intereses y divulgación: Todos los autores están obligados a declarar que no hay conflictos de intereses que puedan haber influido en los resultados obtenidos. Los autores también deberán indicar cualquier financiación recibida para el desarrollo de la investigación.

•Errores en los artículos publicados: Cuando un autor identifique en su artículo un error o inexactitud, deberá inmediatamente informar a los editores de la revista y proporcionarles toda la información necesaria para las correcciones.

•Responsabilidad: todos los autores deberán aceptar la responsabilidad de lo que se ha escrito y que han realizado una revisión de la literatura científica más importantes del tema analizado, a partir del uso de todas las corrientes más actuales del conocimiento.

Compromisos de los revisores

•Contribución a la decisión editorial: La revisión por pares ayuda a los editores para tomar decisiones sobre los artículos propuestos. También permite al autor mejorar el trabajo enviado para su publicación. Los revisores asumen el compromiso de realizar un análisis crítico y constructivo sobre la calidad científica de la contribución, en el campo de sus conocimientos y habilidades.

•Respeto de los tiempos: el revisor que no se sienta competente en la temática que aborda el artículo que se le ha enviado o que no pueda terminar la evaluación en el tiempo programado deberá notificar de inmediato a los editores. Los revisores se comprometen a evaluar los trabajos en el tiempo estipulado.

•Confidencialidad: cada manuscrito asignado debe ser considerado como confidencial. Por lo tanto, estos textos no se deben discutir con otras personas sin el consentimiento expreso de los editores. De esta forma solo será analizado, a partir de la revisión Abierta por Pares, por los revisores asignados y por los autores.

•Objetividad: La revisión por pares se realizará de manera objetiva. No se considera adecuado ningún juicio personal sobre los autores de las contribuciones. Los revisores están obligados a dar razones acerca de sus valoraciones. Los revisores entregarán un informe crítico completo con referencias adecuadas según el protocolo de revisiones de establecido por la Revista Universidad y Sociedad y las normativas establecidas. Están obligados a advertir a los editores si partes sustanciales del trabajo ya han sido publicadas o están bajo revisión para otra publicación.

•Visualización de texto: Los revisores se comprometen a indicar las fuentes bibliográficas de obras importantes que no han sido utilizadas por el autor. También deben informar a los editores de cualquier similitud del manuscrito con otros trabajos publicados por el autor u otros autores.

•Conflicto de intereses y divulgación: la información obtenida durante el proceso de revisión por pares debe considerarse confidencial y no puede utilizarse para propósitos personales. Los revisores solo revisan un manuscrito si no existen conflictos de interés.

Compromisos de los editores

•Decisión de publicación: los editores garantizarán la selección de los revisores más cualificados para emitir una apreciación crítica de los trabajos, con los menores sesgos posibles. Universidad y Sociedad opta por seleccionar entre 2 y 3 revisores por cada trabajo de forma que se garantice una mayor objetividad en el proceso de revisiones; también implementa el método de Revisión por Pares Abierta (Open Peer Review), para cumplir con la filosofía del movimiento de Ciencia Abierta (Open Science).

•Honestidad: los editores evalúan los artículos enviados para su publicación sobre la base del mérito científico. Sin discriminación de raza, género, orientación sexual, religión, origen étnico, nacionalidad y la opinión política de los autores.

•Confidencialidad: los editores y los miembros del grupo de trabajo se comprometen a no divulgar la información de los artículos enviados para su publicación a otras personas, que no sean autores, revisores y editores. Los editores y el Comité Editorial se comprometen a la confidencialidad de los manuscritos, sus autores y revisores.

•Conflicto de intereses y divulgación: los editores se comprometen a no utilizar contenidos de los artículos enviados para su publicación sin el consentimiento de los autores.

•Respeto de los tiempos: los editores son responsables del cumplimiento del tiempo establecido para las revisiones y la publicación de los trabajos aceptados, para asegurar una rápida difusión de sus resultados. Asimismo, los trabajos no permanecerán aceptados sin publicarse en espera más allá del tiempo justo para su publicación.

Atención a quejas y conflicto de intereses.
•Los usuarios pueden enviar por correo electrónico a rus@ucf.edu.cu para tramitar quejas y conflictos de interés a la revista, además podrá hacerlo a través de la cuenta del director de la revista y a la Editorial Universo Sur donde está integrada la revista Universidad y Sociedad.
•Una vez recibida una reclamación, será tramitada con el Equipo Editorial y se dará respuesta en un término no superior a cinco días hábiles.
•Los usuarios podrán interponer apelación a la reclamación y será nuevamente analizada en composición del Equipo Editorial y con tres representantes de la Editorial Universo Sur, los cuales certificarán el proceso seguido y sus resultados. Se responderá a la reclamación en un término no mayor de tres días hábiles.

Resguardo y preservación de la información.

La revista adscrita a la Editorial Universo Sur, cumple con las Políticas de Seguridad Informática de la Universidad de Cienfuegos. Para la preservación de la información, se realizan salvas diarias del contenido de la plataforma, bases de datos y contenido específico de Universidad y Sociedad.
Las salvas diarias de seguridad se descontinúan al transcurso de un mes preservando una copia, la cual queda en resguardo durante un año natural

Statement of Ethic and Good Manners

The editorial team of Universidad y Sociedad Journal is committed to the scientific community in guaranteeing the ethics and quality of the published articles, based on the code of conduct and good practices that the Ethics Committee in Publications (COPE) defines for editors of scientific journals.

Commitments of the authors

•Originality and plagiarism: Authors who submit manuscripts to the University and Society Journal must ensure that the work is original and does not contain, in whole or in part, the contents of other authors. In addition, they must confirm that the empirical data obtained to verify the hypothesis have not been modified.

•Multiple and / or repetitive publications: the author may not publish articles in more than one scientific journal, where he shows the same results. The simultaneous submission of the same contribution to other journals is considered ethically incorrect.

•List of sources: The author must correctly quote the sources and contributions mentioned in the article.

•Authorship: Authors must guarantee the inclusion of those who have made a contribution to the work. It is also necessary for the authors to rank, according to their level of responsibility and involvement in their preparation.

•Access and retention: The authors of the articles must make available to the editors, if necessary, the sources or data used in the research, which can be kept for a period of time and made accessible.

•Conflict of interests and disclosure: All authors are required to declare that there are no conflicts of interest that may have influenced the results obtained. The authors must also indicate any funding received for the development of the research.

•Errors in published articles: When an author identifies an error or inaccuracy in his article, he must immediately inform the editors of the journal and provide them with all the necessary information for the corrections.

•Responsibility: All authors must accept responsibility for what has been written and that they have carried out a review of the most important scientific literature on the analyzed subject, based on the use of all current knowledge.

Commitments of the reviewers

•Contribution to the editorial decision: Peer review helps publishers to make decisions about the proposed articles. It also allows the author to improve the work submitted for publication. The reviewers assume the commitment to perform a critical and constructive analysis of the scientific quality of the contribution, in the field of their knowledge and skills.

•Respect for the term time: The reviewer who does not feel competent in the subject matter addressed in the article that has been sent to him or who cannot finish the evaluation at the scheduled term time must immediately notify the editors. The reviewers agree to evaluate the work in the stipulated term time.

•Confidentiality: Each assigned manuscript must be considered confidential. Therefore, these texts should not be discussed with other people without the express consent of the editors. In this way, it will only be analyzed, based on the Open Peer review, by the assigned reviewers and by the authors.

•Objectivity: The peer review will be conducted objectively. No personal judgment on the authors of the contributions is considered adequate. Reviewers are required to give reasons about their assessments. The reviewers will submit a complete critical report with appropriate references according to the revision protocol established by Universidad y Sociedad Journal and the established regulations. They are required to warn publishers if substantial parts of the work have already been published or are under review for another publication.

•Text visualization: The reviewers agree to indicate the bibliographical sources of important works that have not been used by the author. They must also inform the editors of any similarity of the manuscript with other works published by the author or other authors.

•Conflict of interests and disclosure: The information obtained during the peer review process must be considered confidential and cannot be used for personal purposes. The reviewers only review a manuscript if there are no conflicts of interest.

Editors Commitments

•Publication decision: The editors will guarantee the selection of the most qualified reviewers to issue a critical assessment of the work, with the least possible bias. Universidad y Sociedad chooses to select 2 or 3 reviewers for each work so as to ensure greater objectivity in the review process; It also implements the Open Peer Review method, to comply with the philosophy of the Open Science movement.

•Honesty: The editors evaluate the articles sent for publication based on scientific merit without discrimination of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, nationality and the political opinion of the authors.

•Confidentiality: The editors and the members of the working group undertake not to disclose the information of the articles sent for publication to other people, other than authors, reviewers and editors. The editors and the Editorial Committee commit themselves to the confidentiality of the manuscripts, their authors and reviewers.

• Conflict of interests and disclosure: The editors agree not to use the contents of the articles submitted for publication without the authors' consent.

•Respect for the term time: The editors are responsible for the fulfillment of the term time established for the reviews and the publication of the accepted works, to ensure a rapid dissemination of their results. Likewise, the works will not remain accepted without being published pending beyond the term time just for publication.

 Attention to complaints and conflicts of interest.
• Users can send an e-mail to rus@ucf.edu.cu to process complaints and conflicts of interest to the magazine, and can also do so through the account of the director of the magazine and in the account of Editorial Universo Sur, where the magazine Universidad y Sociedad is integrated.
• Once a complaint is received, it will be processed with the editorial staff and a response will be given within five working days.
• Users may appeal the complaint and it will be analyzed again with the Editorial Team and three representatives of Editorial Universo Sur, who will certify the process followed and its results. The complaint will be answered within a maximum of three working days.

Backup and preservation of information.
The journal, which is part of Editorial Universo Sur, complies with the Information Security Policies of the Universidad de Cienfuegos. For the preservation of information, daily backups are made of the content of the platform, databases and specific content of Universidad y Sociedad.
The daily backups are discontinued after one month, preserving a copy, which remains in safekeeping for one calendar year
