Abstract

The measurement processes play a relevant role in different sectors, from the generation of material goods to safety in different industrial sectors. On the other hand, the measurement of the effectiveness of Grounding Systems (GS) is a highly relevant field for metrology, since it is responsible for managing the design and measurement of electrical safety in any electrical installation. During GS installation, the measurement aspect will ensure that the system components are correctly and adequately placed, guaranteeing a sustainable and efficient design, promoting the electrical health of the system. The objective of this review is to show the importance of measurement techniques in the design, implementation and monitoring of the efficiency of GS. To this end, several investigations involving the mentioned aspects will be reviewed, focusing on the use they make of the concepts involved in the measurement of the resistance of the GS.
