El objetivo del artículo es determinar los efectos del zinc en el tratamiento de la talla baja. Se aplicó un estudio descriptivo, retrospectivo, transversal, correlacional. Se revisaron las historias clínicas de 56 niños que presentaban talla baja y talla baja severa. Los datos fueron procesados mediante el sistema SPSS versión 23. Como resultados se tiene que el 55% de niños está en la edad entre 13 y 18 meses, 82% diagnóstico de talla baja, 18% diagnóstico talla baja severa, 57% iniciaron el tratamiento con una talla de 66-73 centímetros, 56% de niños recibieron zinc en la noche, el 46,4% incremento 2 centímetros en su talla, 26,8% 2 centímetros, no se encontró significancia estadística entre la talla de inicio y el incremento de talla, el sexo y el incremento de talla, hora de administración y el incremento de talla. El diagnóstico médico e incremento de talla mostró significancia estadística p=0.033, dosis prescrita e incremento de talla p=0,001, edad y diagnóstico médico p=0,022 y la relación entre la edad de los niños y el incremento de talla mostro significancia estadística p=0,031.Palabras clave: Deficiencia de Zinc, talla baja, incremento de talla. ABSTRACTZinc deficiency is associated with serious consequences for children's health, as it intervenes in their growth and development. The objective of the article is to determine the effects of zinc in the treatment of short stature. A descriptive, retrospective, cross-sectional, correlational study was applied. The medical records of 56 children with short stature and severe short stature were reviewed. The data were processed using the SPSS version 23 system. As a result, 55% of children are between the ages of 13 and 18 months, 82 % diagnosis of short stature, 18% diagnosis of severe short stature, 57% began treatment with a size of 66-73 centimeters, 56% of children received zinc at night, 46.4% increase 2 centimeters in their size, 26, 8% 2 centimeters, no statistical significance was found between the start size and the increase in size, sex and the increase in size, time of administration and the increase in size.
